** Writing a paragraph
1) Give your paragraph a TITLE and CENTER it. The first letter of each word in the title should be in UPPERCASE.
2) INDENT the first sentence of the paragraph about 1.25cm in.
3) Write the WHOLE WORD on the next writing line if a word is too long to fit at the end of a line.
** Capitalization Rule other than the first word in a sentence
1) Names of people and their titles, and places.
- Doctor James
- South Korea
- The Hilton Hotel
2) Nationalities, religions, languages, and ethnic groups
- He is American.
- She is Christian.
- He's Native American.
3) Names of days, months, and public holidays, but not seasons of the year.
- Monday / April / Christmas / Easter ...
4) Acronyms and abbreaviation
- FBI, NBA, UNESCO, ...
- 참고로 단어처럼 읽히는 것 (예. UNESCO)이 acronym,
- 첫 글자만 가지고 읽는 것 (예. WHO)이 abbreaviation.
5) Titles (except for prepositions(전치사), conjunctions(접속사), articles(관사), etc. that don’t come first)

** Comma Rules
1) After time-order expressions
- First, Next, After that, Before going to the school, ...
- Then does not require a comma.
2) After the first part of a compound sentence.
- Wash the rice for three minutes, and then start boiling the water.
* Compound sentences : for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so 등으로 결합된 문장
(예) He is a college graduate, but ge can't find a job.
-> compound word 대신 세미콜론(;)을 사용해서 연결할 수 있다.
(예) He is a college gratuate; he can't find a job.
-> 세미콜론은 두 문장을 이을 때 사용하기도 함.
(예) I would love to join you for lunch + I am too busy
-> I would love to join you for lunch; however, I am too busy.
3) To separate the items in a series.
- I like singing, dancing, and playing the guitar.
4) To separate any three digits in big numbers
- I earn $50,000 a year.
5) To separate the month and day from the year when writing a date.
- I was born on July 7th, 1997.
6) To separate street from city and city from state.
- 51st Street, New York, NY.
** Order of adjectices
한정사 > 의견 > 크기 > 모양 > 나이 > 색깔 > 기원 > 재질 > 목적 > 명사
** Useful Expressions
I figured that you would be American. ..... figure : 판단하다
Everybody is self-conscious about their face. .... self-conscious about : 콤플렉스가 있다
I was in kind of a sticky situation. ... sticky situation : 힘든 상황
It was such a lovely day that I didn't want to go back home.
I run everyday so that I can stay healthy.
How was I supposed to know? ... 내가 어떻게 알았겠어.
